The East Bay Hills near San Francisco are my local stomping ground. There are forests, grasslands, chaparral, and creek side (riparian) ecosystems. The East Bay Regional Park District owns a vast amount of open space, characterized by the quaint term urban wilderness. This means minimally developed ranch land with networks of fire roads and in some cases grazing cattle.
