Harmonic Overtones and Resonance
Abstract
This application discusses the harmonic structure of sound waves and how resonance reshapes sound waves. The resonant properties of musical instruments are discussed. Interactive charts that illustrate the amplitude and phase response of different types of resonance at different damping values are included. Also included are interactive graphs of sound waves that have had their shape changed by resonance at different damping values.
