Design Samples
I really enjoy designing web sites. It delights me to work with color and page layout. Making information accessible to the masses excites me too. Even though it’s not required at my college, I’ve done considerable independent study of computer programming for the Web.
I prefer to write my own code in a text editor (UltraEdit 32 v10.10c) even though I have access to Dreamweaver MX 2004 and Adobe GoLive 6. UltraEdit is designed for writing code and it has a spell checker, which I use on all my web pages.
The links below are to sub-web sites, each with its own design. These links open into new browser windows.
An Existential Xmas
This web site is a job for hire. It features some very clever Christmas carol parodies, but the humor is rather scary. In the words of my employer,
Christmas Carols describing existential dogma and medieval misery distress persons of weak faith, but are hysterically funny to those with strong faith or no faith. People who are uncertain of their faith should exercise caution in perusing our site.
Backpacking Food
It’s a biological fact that a heavy load feels lighter if you’ve had enough of the right kinds of food to eat. I eat very well when I go backpacking, and this Web site provides my recipes and other nutritional information.
Gourmet Cooking
I love the food they eat in Southeast and Southwest Asia. I also love to cook. I combined my love of cooking and educational writing and wrote instructions for preparing some of my favorite dishes. The recipes on this Web site are XML files formatted with XSLT.
Landscape Photography
I have always enjoyed looking at other people’s landscape photographs and in 1991 I decided to start taking my own. I take many of my photos during twilight, because I love the transition between night and day. My work is highly acclaimed by those who have seen it.
Mirthful Mischief
A group of wolves is called a pack, a group of crows is called a murder, and a group of rats is called a mischief. I used to breed pet rats. Many people who like both rats and dogs say the two species have similar personalities. However, rats like other rats more than dogs like other dogs.
